Absa Premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs extended their league table lead to nine points after downing Cape Town City 3-0 at FNB Stadium today.

Ernst Middendorp only made one change from the 3-0 win over Highlands Park in midweek - Samir Nurkovic for Lazarous Kambole. On the opposite side Mduduzi Mdantsane made his official debut.

Leonardo Castro made it 1-0 on 11 minutes - thanks to a perfect striker’s header after Kearyn Baccus swung in a sweet cross. City nevertheless dominated the rest of the first half but lacked the final punch to beat goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi.

The second half was the coming of two Chiefs goals and City’s final fall. Nurkovic made it 2-0 around 60 minutes with a wonderful header of a Dumisani Zuma cross.

Just 180 seconds later it was 3-0. Erick Mathoho nodded in a fierce header that was created by a George Maluleka's corner kick.

The three points means Amakhosi would have to lose three games for Mamelodi Sundowns or Bidvest to catch Chiefs.
