Despite being linked to a series of clubs in Europe in the January window, Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly will join Manchester United according to Italian journalist Fabio Santini.
Santini claims that Koulibaly could soon be joining the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer coached side after Napoli apparently agreed on a deal worth around £65 million for his services.
Speaking on TV show Il Processo, Santini said: “Napoli will sell Kalidou Koulibaly to Manchester United for a figure of around 70-75m euros. It seems all done.
“Naturally, such a deal will be closed only in June and certainly not in January in the winter transfer window.”
Koulibaly has been one of the best defenders in world football since joining Napoli five years ago with the Senegalese being named in the Serie A team of the year in the past four seasons and scooped the league’s best defender last term.
The signings come at a time when United is believed to be finalizing on a deal to bring in Portugal international Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon due to the uncertainty surrounding the future of Paul Pogba.
United is said to be looking for a defender to partner captain Harry Maguire with Victor Lindelof inconsistent form not convincing the club’s coaching staff.
