Klopp assesses Man United's chances of qualifying for Champions League next season

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has backed Manchester United to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Klopp and company welcome United on Sunday evening at Anfield, hoping to continue their march to Premier League title.

United are the only team to take a point against Liverpool this campaign, in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford in September.

Speaking ahead of the fixture, Klopp backed the Manchester club, who are fifth on the standings, to make it ito top four.

“United have a really good football team, talented and experienced,” he told reporters.“There is a lot of good potential on the pitch.

“I think they will probably qualify for the Champions League this season.

“So, of course, they can beat us. But they can only play as good as we let them play.

“If we are at our best it’s difficult for every team. It’s our stadium so we have to make sure everybody knows that.”

United could move to within four points of fourth-placed Chelsea with a win, following the Blues' 1-0 loss to Newcastle on Saturday evening.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will open a 16-point gap at the top of the table with a win over United, and still enjoy a match at hand.
