Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has revealed that he wants to sign a quality goalscorer with Premier League experiences before the January transfer window closes on Friday, January 31.
According to Birmingham Live, Smith has been vocal about signing another striker to bolster the attacking department following the signing of Tanzania international Mbwana Samatta from Genk last week.
It makes perfect sense as Villa are still short of options after the side was hit with a blow following Wesley's injury that has ruled him off until the end of the season.
Keinan Davis, a 21-year-old striker recently returned to action after being on the sidelines for three months and as it stands, he is one of two senior strikers alongside Samatta.
Olivier Giroud, Glenn Murray, Christian Benteke, Islam Slimani and Daniel Sturridge are some of the prominent names that have been linked with moves to Villa Park.
"I'm unaware of any names that are out there because they certainly haven’t come from our neck of the woods," Smith said.
"Me, sporting director Suso or chief executive Christian Purslow are the main ones in the know.
"You’d love to have experience of the Premier League if you possibly can, if not experience of the English league. That’s the sort of profile we’re looking at."
"We haven’t been, simply because we have been looking at forward options mainly."
