English League One side Southend has confirmed that goalkeeper Nathan Bishop has joined English Premier League side Manchester United on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
Southend in a statement said: “Southend United can confirm Nathan Bishop has completed a move to Manchester United for an undisclosed fee.
“Bishop joined Blues at the age of 16 and his hard work and dedication saw him make huge strides in the academy, impressing enough to progress into the first-team squad at a young age and eventually making his professional debut as an 18-year-old against Scunthorpe United in 2017.”
On his side, Bishop said: “I’ve loved every second at Southend. It was an honour to play for the club.
“I want to thank everyone who I met from managers, coaching staff, the guys in the kitchen and everyone, especially the fans for accepting me and helping me throughout my time at the club.”
Bishop becomes the second signing for United in January after the capture of midfielder Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon.
The goalkeeper is expected to join United's U23 side as he continues with his development.
