Ghanaian star Bernad Morrison was on the mark as Yanga on Wednesday continued their upward surge with a 2-1 win over Lipuli in a Tanzania Premier League match played at National Stadium, Dar es Salaam.
Mapinduzi Balama opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a fine diving header from seven yards out. Morrison, famous for his showboating antics, doubled the lead in the 31st minute with a rising shot into the roof of the net.
Lipuli got their consolations in the 58th minute through Abdul Mwaseba. Timu ya Wananchi, however, hold on to register their third consecutive win.
The win sees Yanga rise to third with 34 points with 17 matches, two fewer than second-placed Azam United who have 38 points. The Luc Eymael boys look to have ridden the rough wave a few weeks ago and are currently playing good football.
Azam were held to a one-all draw by visiting Prisons in one of the eight matches played on Wednesday afternoon.
The league continues on Saturday with nine matches on the card.
