News out of the Bidvest Wits camp says McClive Phiri has signed with the Absa Premiership club.

The former Highlanders FC right-back is reported to be in Braamfontein with Gavin Hunt’s side after signing a two-year contract.

As reported here on Futaa late last year, McClive was watched by a Wits scout while in action for Bosso. The player’s agent Dalu Bhebhe confirmed the official deal to The Chronicle via Kick Off.

"The deal was kept under wraps so that the player concentrates on his job. He has signed a performance-based contract," Bhebhe said.

"It’s a good deal for McClive and if he performs the way that he was doing while at Highlanders as well as how he has expressed himself at Wits, he can only get better and have a successful stint."

With the team known as The Clever Boys yet to announce the business, an added sourced in the camp also confirmed the 26-year-old McClive’s presence. “"Ja he's here, he's training with the club as we speak," said the source.
