Mali international Traore renews contract with French side Nantes

Mali international defender Charles Traore on Tuesday committed his future to FC Nantes as he extended his contract until 2023.

The club announced through a tweet that the defender, who had 18 months left on his current, will be staying in Brittany for two more years.

The 28-year-old defender has come under criticism from the Canary fans for his and his teammates' performance in recent months. Nantes are currently 12th on the Ligue 1 table with 33 points but they have not won any match in the last five outings.

Traoré was born in France to Malianparents and joined Troyes in August 2015. He made his professional debut a few months later, in a 3–1 Ligue 1 victory against Lille. In 2018, Traoré joined Ligue 1 side FC Nantes on a three-year contract.

On the international front, he made his debut for the Mali national football team in a friendly 1–0 loss to Nigeria on 27 May 2016.
