After a horrific tackle that many thought would see Everton's Andre Gomes out for the remainder of the season, Carlo Ancelotti has now confirmed that his midfielder is back and ready for some minutes against Arsenal this weekend.
The Portugal international has been off the game since 3rd November after an unintentional tackle on him by Spurs' Heung-Min Son which saw him sustain a fracture-dislocation of his right ankle.
“He did well, he played comfortably and without any problems and he is available ... to play,” Ancelotti told evertontv.
“Of course I have to speak to him about how he feels after playing his first game following a long time out.
“When a player has been out for a long period, I think it is better to start the game. He can prepare properly, (rather) than to put him on from the bench.”
The 26-year-old joined first-team training last month and has even managed to play 60 minutes of a closed-doors friendly.
As it stands ahead of this match on Sunday, Everton is in ninth spot on 36 points, one place and two points above Arsenal.
