The Harambee Stars skipper enjoyed a fruitful time in England but a move to the United States with MLS outfit Montreal Impact signals a new dawn and fresh opportunity for the 29-year-old.

The muscular defensive midfielder excelled at St Mary's under Mauricio Pochettino, forming one of the best central combinations in the Premier League alongside Frenchman Morgan Schneiderlin. That partnership would blossom even more in the 2014/2015 campaign under Ronald Koeman with the Saints finishing 7th. Wanyama was one of the key men again in 2015/2016 as the Saints finished 6th and that's when Tottenham came calling, and Southampton couldn't keep hold of their star midfield man.

Wanyama's move to Spurs saw him reunite with Pochettino and entrench himself as a first-team regular because of the unique skill set he brought to the party as a physical ball-winning midfielder who also had an eye for a short pass and the ability to beat his man with a dribble. Wanyama's game was built for the Premier League and he enjoyed a long, successful career there because of that. He was also instrumental in their run to the 2019 Champions League final with outstanding displays over two legs in the semifinals against Ajax. Goals aren't Victor's speciality, but he scored a couple crackers for Spurs.

We'll be keeping a close eye on Victor's career with his new Canadian club participating in the United States MLS and wish him all the best!

Happy birthday Victor!
