Mbaye Niang has dismissed reports that he turned down a call up to the Senegalese national team citing mental and physical fatigue.
The Stade Rennais striker said that he was never named in any squad for him to turn down.
"I never turned down any call up. I was never invited to the national team to start with," Niang told Senegalese newspaper L'Observateur.
The former AC Milan player termed the reports that he turned down an Aliou Cisse call up as "bullshit." He also revealed that he met Cisse before the coach named the provisional squad and never said that he was tired or excused himself from the national team.
The Senegalese camp will, however, welcome the postponement of the 202i African Cup of Nations qualifying matches due to the fast-spreading coronavirus scourge on the continent.
Senegal was supposed to play Guinea Bissau in a doubleheader on March 26 and 29.
