Ander Herrera compares PSG boss Thomas Tuchel to Louis van Gaal

Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera has compared his Paris Saint Germain boss Thomas Tuchel and his former Manchester United manager, Louis van Gaal.

In an interview with Stadio Tv, Herrera revealed that the pair create teams 'organized by position' with Herrera having featured for Van Gaal at Old Trafford for two years.

“In broad outline, he makes me think of van Gaal. He likes football organized by position. He has nothing to do, for example, with Marcelo Bielsa, a trainer who also favors attacking play, but who is looking for football in continuous movement, where you have to break the lines, go get the ball yourself,” Herrera said.

Herrera was Van Gaal's first signing at United in the summer of 2014 but failed to spark under the Dutchman before leaving for PSG in 2018 after failing to sign a new deal at United.

The former Bilbao man-made 70 appearances across all competitions during Van Gaal’s reign where they helped United to the Champions League in their first campaign.

Herrera has endured a tough start for PSG where he has been reduced to a bench role and his situation hasn’t been helped by injuries but will hope to play a role in the club's domestic and European adventure where they are in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
