Tottenham hit with Champions League fine, Mourinho warned

Tottenham Hotspur have been fined £18,000 by UEFA following an incident during a Champions League match against RB Leipzig on February 19.

The match kicked off three minutes late, and the governing body has found Jose Mourinho responsible for the delay, consequently warning him.

In a statement, UEFA said;

“The Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has decided:

  • "To fine Tottenham Hotspur €20,000 (£18,000) for being responsible for the late kick-off.
  • "The above fine must be paid within 90 days of communication of this decision.
  • "To warn Tottenham Hotspur coach, Jose Mario Mourinho Felix, for being responsible for the late kick-off.
  • "Tottenham Hotspur ensures that its coach is personally informed of this decision."

Leipzig were not spared either as UEFA slapped them with a £2,000 following crowd trouble during the match.

Mourinho and company were dumped out of the competition on a 5-0 aggregate by the German side, who won 1-0 in London before a 4-0 rout in the second leg.
