It’s easy to forget Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach and Bafana Bafana legend Shaun Bartlett was once a top striker in England.
The former striker spent over three seasons at Charlton Athletic where he delivered 26 goals in 132 games.
In a moment of pride for Charlton, the player himself and Mzansi, the Premier League’s social media page searched through the archives to select a Bartlet goal in their Goal of the Day series. The event was a home game against Leicester City on 1st April 2001.
The former Cape Town Spurs striker ran down the channel to meet a perfect pass with a volley into the far bottom corner.
Bartlet’s club career also included the likes of New York Red Bulls, FC Zurich, Colorado Rabbits, Kaizer Chiefs, Bloemfontein Celtic.
