🇦🇷 The boy from Buenos Aires who made his name in Manchester via Madrid

Since his arrival in 2011/12, everything that Sergio Agüero has touched in the Premier League has turned to goals.

Agüero has started 17 games in the current term, with five of his appearances coming as a substitute, yet he's still there and thereabouts in the Golden Boot race with 16 goals. Agüero has maintained ridiculous, almost unheard of levels of consistency at the top level despite injuries, managerial upheaval and losing his place in the side for a long period to Gabriel Jesus at the start of Pep Guardiola's reign.

Under Guardiola he has become an even more complete player, shrugging off the initial disappointment of being dropped and reclaiming his status as the undisputed number one striker at the Etihad. Kun will be 32 in June so his passing of the scoring torch to 23-year-old Jesus seems a natural next step, but his scoring boots will be difficult ones to fill. By the time Agüero was 23, he had already scored 100 goals (and provided 46 assists) for Atlético Madrid in 230 appearances, convincing City to part with £35m to acquire his services all the way back in 2011. Money well spent.

🎯 Agüero's best scoring season

In 2014/2015, Kun notched 26 goals in the Premier League, earning him the coveted Golden Boot award. It wasn't a particularly impressive campaign for Man City on the whole as the Sky Blues ended the campaign empty-handed, finishing second to Chelsea in the title race, but Agüero's individual brilliance still shone through.

🦁 Sergio Leonel Agüero del Castillo in the Premier League

  • 🇦🇷 Most prolific foreign goal-scorer in Premier League history (180* goals).
  • 👑 Fourth on the all-time Premier League scoring charts.
  • 🎩 Most hat-tricks in the competition's history (12).
  • 🏆 Four-time Premier League winner.
  • 🤯 Clinched the title for City with 90 seconds of stoppage time to play on the final day of the 2011/12 season against QPR.

Sergio Agüero is a bona fide Manchester City and Premier League icon, not solely for his 2012 final day heroics, but also for the natural goal-scoring prowess that we've had the privilege of enjoying over the years. When he returns to his boyhood club Independiente, "Kun" will be sorely missed by Premier League fans around the globe.
