Kenyan keeper Arnold Origi explains why his Crystal Palace move collapsed

Harambee Stars goalkeeper Arnold Origi has revealed why his move to English Premier League side Crystal Palace collapsed.

In January 2018, Palace manager Roy Hodgson was looking for Wayne Hennessey understudy due to injuries to Julian Speroni and Origi had emerged as a front runner with the club offering him a trial session.

The deal, however, fell through with Origi returning to his club Lillestrom with the English side preferring to rope in Brazilian Diego Cavalieri in place of Origi.

And speaking to Madgoat Tv on Monday, Origi said: “It was a good experience at Palace. The fact that they had considered me in the first place was a good thing for me.

“I am still sure the deal could have gone through if the coach didn’t leak the trial session. My club was fighting relegation at that time and was doing everything to stay afloat so they needed all their best players. My coach asked Palace if they could wait a little bit with my signing to help them in that period and when I left Palace I think that’s how they settled on the Brazilian keeper (Diego Cavalieri).”

Origi who has been billed to return to the Harambee Stars fold was speaking about his career from Kenya to Europe on the show; the keeper currently featuring for Finish top-flight side HIFK.
