Manchester United defender Chris Smalling who is currently on loan at Roma might be forced to come back to England, as the Italian club cannot afford him.
According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, a permanent move is unlikely due to United's €20m (£17.5m) asking price.
Smalling has made 28 appearances in all competitions for the Italian club, contributing two goals in the process.
Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have also previously been credited with an interest in the former Fulham youngster, who has a contract with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side until the summer of 2022.
Smalling has made 323 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions.
