Newcastle United are reportedly working on a deal to make a move for Penarol rising star Facundo Pellistri while Manchester City are believed to be offering him a five-year deal to join the club.
Pellistri has been likened to Fede Valverde who joined Real Madrid from Penarol and it comes as no surprise that the big European clubs are sniffing around in Uruguay.
According to Spanish publication AS, the Magpies are keen to make him one of their first signings when the new takeover is complete.
Pellistri has a £9m release clause in his contract and Penarol manager Diego Forlan lauded the youngster's talent and tipped to be the next big thing.
“Facundo Pellistri has very good potential. He has a lot to improve, he is growing and makes a difference. He has a lot of speed.
"We know that it will be difficult to keep him for a long time,” Forlan told Fox.
