Lyon, Toulouse and Amiens fail in an appeal against Ligue 1 finish

Ligue One sides Lyon, Amiens and Toulouse have failed in their appeal against The French Football League (LFP) on their decision to end the season early.

The trio had gone to court to protest the LFP decision to suspend the league due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic but the Paris Administrative Court rejected appeals as revealed by the league body.

In a statement, LFP said: "The LFP was pleased to learn that the appeals lodged by Olympique Lyonnais, Amiens SC and Toulouse FC were rejected by the summary judgment of the Paris Administrative Court.

"In three orders issued on Friday afternoon, the court ruled that the general decisions taken by the League's board of directors on 30 April could only be challenged before the State Council, which is competent to hear regulatory decisions taken by national authorities such as the LFP.”

The LFP, which runs the top two divisions in French football, decided to crown PSG as the league champions with ten games left to play but the trio was not happy with the decision.

The decision left Lyon, who are in the last 16 of the Champions League, seventh in the standings something that saw the club’s President Jean-Michel Aulas go to the appeals court.

They were followed by Amiens who felt their relegation from Ligue 1 was unjust; the decision also relegating Toulouse from the top flight.
