Troubled Rwanda Premier League side Rayon Sports has suffered a blow after losing their inspirational skipper to Police FC.
The left-back declined to renew his contract at Rayon Sports and joins the Disciplined Forces side on a free transfer.
“Rutanga is now our player until 2022. We hope his quality and experience will add strength to the team,” Police Secretary-General, CIP Maurice Karangwa said.
Rutanga becomes the fourth player to quit controversy-ridden Rayon in the last two weeks. He joins his teammate Eric Iradukunda at Police, while the duo of goalkeeper Yves Kimenyi and Eric Irambona crossed to SC Kiyovu.
Rayon Sports had hogged media limelight in recent days for all the wrong reasons. The club president Sadate Munyakazi has been suspended from football activities for six months and last week admitted to using money to influence Rayon's league matches.
