Spanish giants Barcelona are expected to secure the signing of Gustavo Maia from Sao Paulo, according to Brazilian club's sporting director and the player's agent Danilo Silva.
Barcelona developed interest in Gustavo after his performance in the famous Copinha, a tournament for the youth teams played in January with over 100 Brazilian clubs. Both Liverpool and Atletico Madrid had shown an interest in the 19-year-old, but the Catalans paid £880,000 earlier this year for the option to sign Maia for £3m.
And his agent Danilo has revealed Gustavo is already leaning Spanish ahead of his proposed move to the Catalans.
"We are sure Barcelona will complete the purchase. There was already a signal from the club and [on Monday] Maia started private Spanish lessons to get more prepared. Other clubs came to us in the last few months but he never had any doubt, he always wanted Barcelona," he said.
