🚨 EXCLUSIVE: David Ornstein on the future of Bukayo Saka & Arsenal's Thomas Partey pursuit

Arsenal is putting the finishing touches on a new long-term contract for Bukayo Saka that will settle the future of the versatile, highly-rated teenager with an official announcement expected this week.

Saka, a graduate of Arsenal’s Hale End academy, has become a key component of Mikel Arteta's first team at Arsenal in 2019-20, filling a variety of positions and roles as Arteta continues to experiment with different formations and tactics.

Since the Premier League’s restart, Arsenal has played four games in 11 days and Saka has had a different starting position in each match. Has deployed as a left wingback in The Gunners' last Premier League outing, a 2-0 win over Southampton at St Mary's.

Most recently, against Sheffield United in the FA Cup quarterfinals, Saka started in a more progressive attacking role on the left flank alongside Alex Lacazette and Nicolas Pépé in a front three.

“The communication between the club, agents and the family has been going on for months and is very fluent,” Arteta said ahead of Arsenal’s win over Southampton. “The player and family know how much trust I have in him. I think he is just showing that every week and his consistency level is getting better and better.”

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Arsenal has also intensified their interest in signing Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey. The 27-year-old Ghana international has a €50 million release clause but Arsenal will be hopeful of negotiating a lower figure. Arsenal has been interested in Partey for some time. The Ghanaian was in action last night and played the full 90 minutes in Atletico's 2-2 draw away to LaLiga champions Barcelona.

Arsenal returns to Premier League action tonight at the Emirates Stadium against rock-bottom Norwich City.
