Mikel Arteta's pre-match press conference ahead of north London derby

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has faced the media on Friday as he held his pre-north London derby press conference.

Arsenal will travel to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday to take on rivals Tottenham in a Premier League clash. The Gunners settled for a 1-1 draw with Leicester on Tuesday with Spurs registering a barren draw with Bournemouth on Thursday.

On Derby comparisons

"They are all different, it depends a lot whether you win or lose, that's what makes it special. Obviously we have had some really nice ones playing them at the Emirates and beating them so I have some really good memories on that. It's such a special occasion," he said.

"Rivalry in football, when you take it in a positive way, and that brings energy, that brings passion, that brings a city together. It's such a beautiful thing. We are privileged to have big teams in the city and it's a shame we don't have the fans to enjoy it with us."

Arteta was asked if there is ever a good time to face Spurs he said,  "I think a derby has a completely different context to what is happening with the current form and anything like that."

"I have huge respect for Jose, for what he's trying to do there, and we know to go there and get a win we're going to have to do everything really, really well. I'm expecting a really tough game."

Must win game

"We said since the virus that we had to win every single game. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to do that but we're in a good run and we'll try to go there to get the three points again.

Team news

"I'm going to see the boys soon, but hopefully everybody is fine."

"No, no updates sorry," said Arteta when asked whether Mesut Ozil or Matteo Guendouzi could be involved.
