Ghana international Frank Acheampong has been officially handed the captain's armband by Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda, Ghanasoccernet confirmed.
Acheampong who becomes the first Ghanaian player to captain a Chinese club joined the club in the summer of 2017 on a permanent basis following a successful loan spell.
“I’m particularly honoured to be made captain of this great club, it has come at a very challenging time where the club is struggling very early in the season," he said.
"I hope that with a collective effort we can turn around our season”.
The 26-year-old has since made 56 appearances for Tianjin Teda, registering 43 goals and 17 assists since his debut back in 2017.
