Ivan Rakitic, Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba are expected to leave Barcelona in the summer transfer window as new boss Ronald Koeman starts to shake up the squad.
Koeman has been tasked with refreshing the Barcelona squad following the Champions League disaster and move on some of the club’s ageing stars.
Spanish media reports that the three players have been singled out for the axe as they “are on wages that the club can no longer afford to pay.”
Ajax are interested in bringing Suarez back to Amsterdam, but the Uruguayan isn’t interested at the moment and would rather see out his contract.
Alba is another player Barcelona are happy to wave goodbye to. They feel “now is the time he moved on for a new challenge” and think he will attract admirers.
Rakitic could follow and looks most likely to return to Sevilla. It’s clear the midfielder would be welcomed back to his former club if they can agree a fee with Barcelona.
