Patrice Carteron shocks Egyptian giants Zamalek with unexpected resignation

Egyptian Premier League side Zamalek have confirmed the resignation of head coach Patrice Carteron ahead of the Caf Champions League semifinals, Goal reported.

It is believed that Carteron's departure has been met by shock taking into consideration that Zamalek secured a 1-0 victory over El Entag El Harby on Sunday.

The 50-year-old took over the reins from Zambia head coach Milutin Sredojevic in December 2019 and helped the side achieve success in Africa as well as on the home front.

The club confirmed the news via their social media where they thanked him for his services and wished him well in his future endeavours.

"Patrice Carteron apologises to Zamalek for not completing his assignment as the football team coach, due to personal reasons," the club tweeted.

Zamalek will take on Raja Casablanca on October 17 for the first leg of the Caf Champions League.
