Bissouma sent off for dangerous high boot

Brighton blew Newcastle away with two goals inside the first seven minutes as Graham Potter's side secured a first Premier League victory of the season with a 3-0 win at St James' Park.

The only blemish for Potter's side was a late red card for Yves Bissouma, who was sent off after VAR's intervention for a high boot on Jamal Lewis.

The tackle left the Newcastle defender badly bloodied and even though the referee needed a second check after initially showing Bissouma a yellow card, it was unclear how he was about to survive that.

An early brace from Neal Maupay had the visitors in control, before Republic of Ireland international Aaron Connolly capped a 3-0 win with a delightful finish on 83 minutes to open his account for the campaign.
