Revealed: Luis Suarez had an anti-Manchester United clause in Barcelona contract

Luis Suarez was allegedly prepared to reveal details of his Barcelona contract if he was prevented from signing for Atletico Madrid this summer, even though Ronald Koeman made it clear that he is not part of his plans.

Having spent the last six years at Camp Nou, the Uruguay international is expected to be revealed as an Atletico player in the coming hours.

However, a move has allegedly only materialized after a number of Barcelona directors decided to back down in their bid to stop the 33-year-old from joining a LaLiga rival.

According to reports in Spain, Suarez was prepared to hold a press conference which may have revealed private email discussions between the relevant parties.

The report claims that it would have confirmed that Suarez, a former Liverpool player, would not be able to sign for Manchester United under any circumstances.

The veteran allegedly wanted to prove that there was no clause in his contract that gave Barcelona the right to block a transfer to Atletico.

His move from the club has sparked a reaction from Lionel Messi, who says Suarez did not deserve to be treated the way he was handled by the board.
