Liverpool keeper Loris Karius set to join Bundesliga side

Liverpool keeper Loris Karius is set to join Bundesliga side Union Berlin after both parties agreed on a deal.

According to Kicker, the 27-year-old will join the club on a one-year loan deal and as they Berlin seeks to find competition for first-choice keeper Andreas Luthe.

It won’t be the first time Karius will be in the Bundesliga with the German shot-stopper playing 96 competitive games for Mainz 05 between 2013 and 2016 before joining Liverpool.

With Liverpool having Alisson Becker and Adrian as his understudy, Karius spent last season with Turkish giants Besiktas and is considered surplus to requirements in the team.

The German terminated his loan spell at Besiktas in May when he was nearing the end of a two-year loan stint with the Turkish side; the keeper having last played for Liverpool in the 2018 Champions League final loss to Real Madrid.

Union Berlin finished 11th in the Bundesliga last season.
