English Premier League side Manchester City have completed the signing of defender Ruben Dias from Benfica.
The confirmation was done by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano who said that the player the deal will see Argentine Nicolas Otamendi move to the other side with the player’s girlfriend confirming on Instagram that they were already on their way to Manchester.
With just over a week to go until the transfer window closes, City is still trying to bring another top-quality centre-back after signing Nathan Ake earlier in the season from AFC Bournemouth.
The Pep Guardiola side was believed to be interested in Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly but City didn’t have any breakthrough in the negotiations something that saw explore other options in the market.
City is reported to have paid €50millon upfront to Benfica plus €15million in bonuses, though the Portuguese club will claim the deal is worth €80million this is because Otamendi is believed to be worth €15million.
Dias started for Benfica on Saturday night in their Primeira Liga fixture against Moreirense and scored the first goal in their 2-0 win.
