Premier League giants Liverpool have added youngsters young defenders Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams to their team ahead of their Champions League tie against Ajax.
The duo will travel with the squad to Amsterdam for Wednesday's tie at Ajax with the duo slotted in to replace the injury-ravaged team.
Phillips spent most of last season on loan at Stuttgart in the German second tier with Williams impressing in both of Liverpool's Carabao Cup fixtures this season against Lincoln City and Arsenal.
Liverpool has been left short in defence following the injury to Virgil van Dijk in Saturday's Merseyside derby draw with Everton at Goodison Park; the player expected to be ruled out for the remainder of the season.
In defence, the club will miss the services of Joel Matip who will miss the trip to Amsterdam as a precaution while Thiago Alcantara will also miss the trip after being on the receiving end of a heavy challenge from Richarlison towards the end of the derby.
The Spaniard, just as Matip is expected to be available for selection in their weekend Premier League tie against Sheffield United with his presence expected to see Fabinho move back into defence to help cover for Van Dijk.
