Harambee Stars head coach Jacob Ghost Mulee believes the arrival of captain Victor Wanyama is a boost to the team ahead of their Wednesday tie against Comoros.
Wanyama who missed Stars last game against Zambia due to Covid restrictions arrived in the country on Tuesday and according to Mulee in his Tuesday presser, the experience of the Montreal Impact midfielder is vital to the team despite the player expected to have just one session with the entire squad.
“He (Wanyama) has arrived today and it’s a worry because he will only have one session with the team. We are however happy to have him because he has played on such a big stage and understand the situation perfectly well. I know he will give his best if selected to play for the team,” Mulee said.
Wanyama has been a key member for his club as they made it to the MLS playoff and even scored again in their last game against DC United before he hit the runway home.
In midfield, Mulee has the luxury of choosing Anthony Akumu, Ismael Gonzalez and Lawrence Juma in the position should he consider Wanyama not ready for the clash; Akumu and Juma having played in midfield in Stars last game.
