Leicester City head coach Brendan Rodgers is confident Jonny Evans will sign a new contract amid reports linking him with Manchester United return.
Evans' contract with Leicester Coty is set to expire at the end of the current campaign and is yet to agree to a new contract. The 32-year-old is in talks over a two-year deal and Rodgers is hopeful of keeping the player beyond this season as he admits he is crucial to his plans.
"He’s instrumental in what I’m trying to do here," he said.
"He’s very much like a coach for me on the field. He’s got a brilliant football brain, he understands the game at the highest level. He understands the journey of where we’re trying to get to. He’s been there. He understands the pressure around it and what’s required."
"His value to myself and the team is huge and he knows we want him here."
Evans signed for Foxes from West Brom in a £3.5m deal in June 2018.
