News out of England says South Africa’s Percy Tau is almost ready to represent the nation in the English Premier League.
The Bafana Bafana attacking midfielder was signed by Brighton from Mamelodi Sundowns in 2018, before he was immediately loaned out to Belgium’s Union SG, Club Brugge and Anderlecht.
Now after excelling in Belgium and Brighton’s need for a creative spark, leading English reporter Kristof Terreur, has confirmed that the 26-year-old is set to acquire his UK Work Permit and play Premier League football.
“Where’s Percy? Waiting for the paperwork of his UK work permit to be completed. Anderlecht don’t expect him back anymore,” Terreur posted.
Tau will become the first South African in the EPL since Tokelo Rantie’s stint at Bournemouth in 2016.
Other players from SA that have played in England include Kagiso Dikgacoi (Fulham and Cardiff), Steven Pienaar (Spurs and Tottenham), Mbulelo Mabizela (Spurs), Bongani Khumalo (Spurs), Benni McCarthy (Blackburn Rovers and West Ham), Quinton Fortune (Manchester United), Shaun Bartlett, Mark Fish (both Charlton Athletic), Phil Masinga, Lucas Radebe (both Leeds United).
