Arsenal reveals why Aubameyang missed the Southampton game

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has given an update on the injury to captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabonese missed the club’s FA Cup defeat at Southampton on Saturday due to a personal issue after he was set to be part of the squad for the tie hosted at St. Mary’s.

The 31-year-old traveled with the team for the clash but had to be sent back home this according to Arteta who further revealed that he didn’t know if the player will be available for their Tuesday league clash against the same opponents.

"He (Aubameyang) had a personal matter in the last few hours and we had to send him back,” Arteta said.

Asked about the player's availability on Tuesday, the Spaniard added: "I don't know. He needs to address that issue and see how it evolves. We're here to support him and he needs to take the time that is needed because that's a priority at the moment."
