Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed why Mateo Kovacic has been one of his best performers since he joined the club.
The Croatian midfielder has started and delivered gleaming displays in all five games under his new German manager, helping the team to four wins and a draw.
Chatting to the media after the 2-0 win over Newcastle on Monday night, Tuchel said he often has to tone down the midfielder from doing too much at training, including availability at odd hours.
"I love him," Tuchel said to Chelsea’s media, as quoted by Goal.
"You can wake him up at 3 a.m. and he will be ready to train at Cobham at 3:15.”
Up next for Kovacic and the Blues is a league trip to Southampton on Saturday.
