Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandes has once again piled some pressure on manager Ronald Koeman after claiming that everyone at the club saw him as the club’s manager one day.
Xavi had been linked with a return to Barca before but the club settled on Koeman when they were looking for a replacement for Setien but according to the Spaniard, he hopes that he will return to the club someday.
“Everyone sees me as the Barca coach one day. I respect Barca a lot and I also have respect for Koeman, the current coach. But I hope (to return as coach). I won’t hide that, but with respect for the current management team at the club, who are in the middle of (three) competitions, and I wish them the best.
“We will see who comes in as president in the next month. But of course, it’s a dream to coach Barca. There’s no doubt about that,” Xavi said in an interview with FIFA via AS.
The 41-year-old, who is currently in charge of Qatari side Al Sadd, was approached last year about taking over from Ernesto Valverde but turned Barca down because he felt the timing wasn’t right.
There has been some pressure piling on Koeman more so after their heavy defeat to PSG in the Champions League this week with suggestion rife that he might step down something the Dutchman vehemently denied.
Koeman's future seems to be in the balance with one of the Presidential candidates in the club’s forthcoming election suggesting that he will sack him for a better candidate once he gets into power.
