Sir Alex set to be handed a bigger role at Man United

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson could be a bigger and more influential role at the club following the imminent departure of Ed Woodward.

Woodward will be leaving United at the end of the year with reports from the Mirror indicating that the club wants Fergie to have a larger role in light of Woodward's departure.

Ferguson has acted as a club ambassador and director at Old Trafford since retiring in 2013 but was involved in United’s bid to sign Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham last summer, giving the youngster and his family a private tour of the club's training facilities

Despite United losing the young Englishman, Fergie's efforts didn't go unnoticed with the club having the belief that the 13-time Premier League champion still has significant pulling power.

The legendary manager wasn't consulted before United put themselves in the hat for a new European Super League with the Scottish voicing his disapproval at the idea, and urged United not to get involved.

Recently United hired John Murtough to become the club's new football director, with Darren Fletcher taking the post of technical director with the addition of Fergie said to be something that will be welcomed by most of the workers at the club.
