FC Barcelona head coach Ronald Koeman might rest easy now with news that club legend Xavi will sign a new deal with Qatari side Al-Sadd.
Xavi had been strongly linked with a move to Barca when the club was in trouble but a spate of a good result that has seen the club back in the league title race has given Dutchman Koeman some breathing space.
According to Edu Polo, Xavi will renew his contract with Al Sadd, while maintaining a special clause if he wishes to come back to Catalonia with the Laliga giants said to be keen to appoint their former player as their head coach should things go bad for Koeman.
Xavi left Camp Nou in 2015 for Qatar and after playing for several seasons at Al Sadd, he undertook a job as their coach. He is set to renew his contract at Al Sadd to stay for an additional two seasons at the club but his new deal has a special clause that will allow him to leave the club if he wishes to return to Barça as head coach.
Fake News.
