Antonio Conte's impact at Inter Milan has been undeniable, with the Nerazzurri running away with this season's Serie A title and there are four matches to spare.
Inter's first Scudetto triumph since 2010 has been built on attacking excellence, but goals from sources other than the strikers have been a vital cog in the winning machine. Here are five standout performers from a title-winning campaign, starting with the man between the sticks.
🇸🇮 Samir Handanović
Inter's Serbian skipper has been an ever-present this season, appearing in all 34 of Inter's league fixtures to date, and leading the side by example. A standout display in the Derby della Madonnina on 21 February saw Handanović make a string of brilliant saves to keep a clean sheet and build the platform for a 3-0 win against Milan. The Nerazzurri went on a seven-match winning streak after that derby success and since then, there has been no catching them.
🇲🇦 Achraf Hakimi
Real Madrid's questionable decision to sell the flying Moroccan fullback for as little as €45m has worked out very well for Inter. A constant threat down their right-hand side, Hakimi has weighed in with seven goals & six assists from a wing-back role in Conte's 352 system. Make no mistake, the 22-year-old is a priceless piece in the puzzle.
🇮🇹 Nicolò Barella
The 24-year-old midfielder is dynamically going about his business and as one of the finest box-to-box midfielders in the game. Energetic, explosive and comfortable carrying the ball over long distances, Barella is already one of the best in the world in his position, and he's only getting better.
🇦🇷 Lautaro Martínez
Argentina's next striking sensation has been the perfect foil for Romelu Lukaku upfront. His return of 15 goals & five assists is a healthy one, but the tireless 23-year-old brings so much more to the party with his tenacity, ball-carrying ability and tendency to produce the goods in big games. If you need a teammate to have your back in a fight, Martínez is your man.
🇧🇪 Romelu Lukaku
Inter's MVP carried the fight to opposition defenders around the country all season, underlining his class and pedigree at the highest level of club football.
The 27-year-old's tally of 21 goals & 10 assists in Serie A this term is one thing; his presence and influence are quite another. There are not many strikers on the planet as complete as Lukaku.
Antonio Conte was also able to lean on the vast experience of players like Arturo Vidal, Christian Eriksen and Ashley Young, who all contributed significantly as valuable members of the squad. 22-year-old central defender Alessandro Bastoni made 30 top-flight appearances this term and is a massively promising talent.
Conte's fine work with Inter has taken them from consecutive 4th-place finishes to the title, dethroning perennial champions Juventus in the process.
It's not the first time he's transformed the fortunes of a club. Juventus went from 7th to 1st in his first full season in Turin and at Chelsea, he took the Blues from 10th to the title in his first campaign in London. Conte is truly the king of the rebuild.
The next challenge for Inter's charismatic Italian will be to mount a serious challenge in the Champions League. If this group stays together, they can go a very long way.
