Netherlands boss backs Depay to succeed at Barcelona

Netherlands national team head coach Frank de Boer believes that Memphis Depay would succeed at Barcelona if he makes the move in the summer.

The Lyon captain has been linked with a move to FC Barcelona with reports last week indicating that the former Manchester United man was spotted in Spain house hunting in Barcelona.

In an interview with Tuttosport de Boer who played for Barcelona added that Depay would be a great addition to many top clubs in the world, including Barcelona.

“I know Memphis well and I know that he has a top mentality. He will not be distracted by the rumors. He is a great center-forward and is the captain of Lyon. I can see him do well at any top club, like Juventus, Barcelona, Inter. He will decide, then we will follow him in the team he picks,” said De Boer.

Barca is in the market for a  striker having failed to replace Luis Suarez who moved to Atletico Madrid last summer; with Depay said to have come close to joining Barca in January.

The club’s financial condition, however, prevented them from signing Lyon’s star man but he is expected to move to Spain on a free with his contract with Lyon expiring in the summer.
