Real Betis defender Emerson has confirmed that he will be returning to FC Barcelona in the summer.
The Brazilian international is co-owned by the two Spanish clubs as part of their unique agreement over the 22-year-old full-back with the player having joined Barca on a five-year deal in 2019 from Atletico Mineiro, however, part of the deal included a two-year loan at Real Betis.
He has been a sterling player for Manuel Pellegrini‘s side in 2020/21 with Los Verdiblancos clinching a final day spot in next season’s Europa League.
The player seems to have waved goodbye to Betis fans with an Instagram post with Mundo Deportivo reporting that Barca wants the player back so that they can sell him immediately to fund some of their summer targets.
Ronald Koeman‘s side is able to buy the player outright for €6m but the Laliga giants would want a fee in the region of €25m if he is to be sold to any club.
Barça value Emerson's performance at Real Betis very positively and understand that he be a good reinforcement for the team. [cadena ser]— barcacentre (@barcacentre) May 18, 2021
