Paulo Fonseca's move to Tottenham has collapsed due to tax issues despite the contract having been completed.
Talks to appoint Fonseca as the new coach broke down in their latest search for a manager and Spurs have opens talks with Gennaro Gattuso. The north London side has been without a coach since sacking Jose Mourinho and been searching for his replacement.
Fonseca, a former Roma, and Shakhtar Donetsk manager, had been expected to sign after a contract was verbally agreed but ultimately he could not agree terms.
Gattuso is available after leaving Fiorentina on Thursday, 22 days after his appointment was announced. His previous jobs as a manager include spells at Napoli, where he was in charge from December 2019 until last month, and Milan.
