Leeds United have won a host of new admirers with their swashbuckling approach to the 2020-21 Premier League season.
It's good to see them back at the top table of English football, and they're performing admirably under the legendary Marcelo Bielsa.
Since the Peacocks' return to the top-flight after 16 years away, they've added some stellar names to their roster to add a cosmopolitan feel to one of England's most traditional football clubs.
💶 Leeds United's recent major signings
- 🇪🇸 Rodrigo
- 🇧🇷 Raphinha
- 🇦🇴 Hélder Costa
- 🇪🇸 Diego Llorente
- 🇫🇷 Illan Meslier
- 🇩🇪 Robin Koch
- 🏴 Jack Harrison
- 🇪🇸 Junior Firpo
21-year-old Frenchman Illan Meslier is the youngest goalkeeper ever to keep ten clean sheets in a single EPL season, and he kept 11 in total when all was said and done. Meslier is now a mainstay in Bielsa's team, having initially joined on loan in mid-2019. His switch was made permanent a year later.
24-year-old Englishman Jack Harrison provided a healthy eight goals & eight assists in the Premier League from a wide midfield role. Brazilian wide man Raphinha, also 24, has dazzled in spells, injecting genuine star quality after a €19m move from Rennes in 2020.
Spain U21 left-back Junior Firpo, who was born in the Dominican Republic, arrived at Elland Road from FC Barcelona this week. Alongside all of these sparkling new signings, Bielsa will need to lean heavily on the experience of Rodrigo (25 Spain caps), Stuart Dallas (56 Northern Ireland caps) and the team's heartbeat and fulcrum, Kalvin Phillips.
After acquiring some top talent from around the globe upon their return to the big time, we're intrigued to see how they get on in their second season back in the Premier League, because the second season is so often the acid test of an emerging team's credentials.
