🇳🇱 Dutch legend Arjen Robben hangs his boots

The great Arjen Robben has decided to end his playing career at the age of 37.

The former Chelsea, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona star announced the decision on Instagram on Thursday after a season with his boyhood Dutch club FC Groningen, where he made just seven appearances with two goals despite getting affected by injuries.

Robben told his fans on the social media app that the decision was not an easy one to take, before thanking everyone for his long career at the highest level.

"I have decided to quit as active player. A very hard choice to make. I want to thank everybody for all the warm support. Greetings, Arjen."

The winger's illustrious career included eight Bundesliga titles with Bayern, five German Cups, two Premier League titles, one FA Cup with Chelsea, one La Liga title with Real, as well as two Dutch Cups and one Eredivisie title with Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven.

He also won the UEFA Champions and Club World Cup titles with Bayern Munich under Pep Guardiola in 2013. In the international game, he scored 37 goals in 96 games for the Oranje of Netherlands.
