David Ornstein delivers update on Arsenal link to Ben White

According to David Ornstein, Arsenal are ready to complete the transfer of Ben White from Brighton and Hove Albion before the start of the new Premier League season.

The Gunners have been widely connected with a summer transfer for the central defender as they try to enhance their defensive options ahead of the new season.

Arsenal are rumored to have negotiated a fee of approximately £50 million to buy the 23-year-old England defender as they near completion of their third significant summer transfer window signing.

Despite all of the rumors, the Gunners have yet to issue an official statement on the transfer going through.

As Arsenal looks to bring the defender to north London, Athletic writer Ornstein believes it is just a matter of time before the deal is finalized.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Ornstein said of the White deal: “There is nothing to worry about from Arsenal’s perspective. I think that deal is going to go through.

“Originally, when the agreement was reached which was widely reported, it was looking like a medical [this] week. I don’t know how that’s factored in around his holiday plans, his return and quarantine issues and that sort of thing.

“The medical and the finalizing around the terms of the transfer are expected to go through and Ben White will be an Arsenal player next season all being well.

“Brighton will get a windfall of £50m. I think it’s a situation where all parties win because he was a transfer priority for Arteta and it looks like it’ll get done.”

Last season, White made 36 Premier League games for Brighton, who finished 16th in the table.

He was included in Gareth Southgate's England squad for Euro 2020, although he did not play for the Three Lions during the tournament this summer.
