French striker Karim Benzema scored his 200th Laliga goal during Real Madrid 6-1 win over Real Mallorca on Wednesday night.
Benzema opened the scoring proceedings as early as the third minute when he pounced on an error from Mallorca defender Josep Gayá to slot home before doubling his tally late on 78th minute after Marco Asensio had grabbed a hattrick in the game.
Asensio's first and Madrid's second came in the 24th minute but Mallorca had pulled a goal back through Lee Kang-in when he curled past Thibaut Courtois after the Madrid defence had been caught napping.
Asensio re-established Los Blancos’ two-goal advantage when he was played in by Benzema before firing past the goalkeeper. Into the second half and Asensio gave his side a commanding lead by completing his hat-trick with an unstoppable effort into the bottom corner.
Benzema who scored 23 LaLiga goals last season will be hoping that he can continue banging the goals when they welcome Villarreal to the Spanish capital on Saturday; the player now got eight goals and six assists already in 2021/22.
