Thomas Tuchel and Pep Guardiola will once again meet in another competitive match this weekend when Chelsea host Manchester City on Saturday.
Guardiola and Tuchel's rivalry is becoming more interesting day by day with the two having met even before moving to the Premier League. The pair has faced each other in the Bundesliga as Guardiola was in charge of Bayern Munich while Tuchel lead Dortmund.
How has the duo faired so far?
Bayern Munich 4-1 Mainz
Munich hosted Mainz in October 2013, when Guardiola was at the beginning of his stint with the Bundesliga giants.
The Spaniard had really a good team and thrashed Tuchel's men 4-1 thanks to goals from Arjen Robben, Thomas Muller (brace), and Mandzukic.
Mainz 0-2 Bayern Munich
In the return fixture, that was played on March 22nd, Munich completed a double over Mainz with Schweinsteiger and Mario Gotze on target. The victory left Guardiola's side in need of just one more win to wrap up the Bundesliga title and it happened as they thrashed Hertha Berlin 3-1.
Bayern Munich 5-1 Borussia Dortmund
In the year 2015, Thomas Tuchel replaced Jurgen Klopp and he had a day to forget after meeting Bayern on October 4th. Robert Lewandowski destroyed Dortmund, netting twice before Aubameyang reduced the deficit. However, it got messy for the visitors as they ended up losing by a 5-1 scoreline.
Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Bayern Munich
In the year 2016 March, Tuchel's men were in good form and refused to go down at home as they forced a goalless draw.
Bayern Munich 0-0 Borussia Dortmund
In May, the two teams met once again in the DFB-Pokal final, where they could not be separated after 90 minutes. Munich carried the day after beating Doertmund 4-3 on penalties to lift the trophy.
Guardiola ended his three-year stay in Germany with a second league and cup double, while the loss was Dortmund's third consecutive defeat in DFB-Pokal finals.
Chelsea 1-0 Manchester City (17/4/2021)
After moving to the Premier League and took over as Chelsea boss, Tuchel's first meeting with Guardiola was in the FA Cup semi-final. Hakim Ziyech scored the only goal that separated the two teams as Tuchel got his first win against Guardiola.
Manchester City 1-2 Chelsea
This year in May 8th, Tuchel faced Guardiola once again, with the Citizens on the verging of winning the Premier League title. City headed into the clash as favourites but were shocked, losing the match by a 2-1 scoreline. City opened the scoring through Raheem Sterling before Sergio Aguero's Panenka penalty was saved by Edouard Mendy. In the second half, Chelsea turned it around as goals from Hakim Ziyech and Marcos Alonso ensured Tuchel beat Guardiola for the second time.
Manchester City 0-1 Chelsea
The most recent meeting between the two sides was on 29th May 2019 in the Champions League finals.
Tuchel managed to stretch his winning streak to three as Chelsea beat City 1-0 to lift the Champions League trophy.
City dominated the match but Kai Havertz scored the only goal in the 43rd minute to hand the Blues the slim victory.
