Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho might return to the Premier League in the winter transfer.
The Brazilian who is just returning from a long layoff isn't in the plans of manager Ronald Koeman with the club having tried to offload him before.
After finding new owners this week, Newcastle United could kick off their January spending with a move for the former Liverpool FC man with the club set to launch a transfer push at the start of 2022.
According to reports from Diario Sport, Newcastle will not question a potential €50m move for the former Liverpool winger, with six-month loan deal also a possible option.
There is a clause in the Brazilian contract that will force Barcelona to pay more to Liverpool should he appear in a certain number of games but with the club struggling financially, it's a move they are working to prevent.
Apart from Newcastle, Coutinho had been linked with a move to Leicester City in the summer after the Foxes feared that midfielder Tielmanns could have left for Man United; Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur being the other teams said to have enquired about the player.
Not sure what I feel about the Newcastle takeover, but one thing’s for sure — the Spanish press is licking their lips w/ this one, can already imagine them publishing a rumor suggesting ‘Newcastle to bid £20M for Phillipe Coutinho?’.— Reshad Rahman ✆ (@ReshadRahman_) October 7, 2021
