Barca vice-president Rafa Yuste: Haaland move is unlikely

Rafa Yuste, Barcelona's vice-president, has admitted that his team is unlikely to be in the running to sign Borussia Dortmund attacker Erling Braut Haaland during the summer transfer window.

When a release clause in his contract becomes active next year, the Norway international is anticipated to leave BVB, and a number of top European clubs are expected to battle for his signing.

However, Yuste believes that Barcelona will not sign the 21-year-old due to the club's financial difficulties, which will take time to resolve.

"I prefer to be governed by the principle of prudence. We come from a situation of a huge economic crisis, therefore prudence," Yuste told Mundo Deportivo.

"I do not see Haaland [signing] happening now. From now to next year we will see what the situation is and what we can do in terms of signings. First, we have to lay the foundations of a house that we have found in ruins, so let's focus first on fortifying it.

"Let's feed those at home first and then we'll see what else we can do, without losing sight of the fact that we always want to have the best, and Haaland is one of the best in the world."

Manchester United, Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Chelsea are all rumored to be interested in signing Haaland during the summer transfer season.
